Last Craic

last_show10th December 2009

Since St Patricks Day 2007 we’ve loved bringing you the Craic from Ireland every week but today, we’re very sorry to say, will be our last show.

The reason? Even though there’s lots of work here, there are fewer people to do it, which means pressures on our time no longer allow us to record each week.

We’ve had a fabulous time and it’s been great reaching out to Irish communities everywhere from Barcleona to Boston, New York to Melbourne, Dubai to Durban and so many more. Ian & Breda and myself would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to YOU for listening in each week and being part of our gang!

So, we leave you with our last show for now.  In it you’ll hear how we’ve found something in the Budget we love, discovered the greatest Dublin webcam ever and hear about Shakin’ Stevens big fight in Northern Ireland. Yes, that is the singer Shakin’ Stevens!!

Click play below to listen now or download the mp3 to listen later.  Enjoy!

Cheers
Dusty Rhodes

    Hi Ian,

I’m bitterly disappointed that you cannot deliver the show anymore; I totally understand it is not your fault.

It has been great to keep in touch with home.

I hope the people who called the shots realise how valuable it has been.

    Best regards
    Derek

Devastating news, your show has been the best podcast out there and a highpoint of my week. Hopefully whatever you do in future will bring as much craic as this show has done in the past (god I hate this loss, it’s like losing a family member that you actually like).

    Cheers,

    Kevin

  8. Al Owens Says:

    Hi Ian, Breda & Dusty

Sorry to hear you’re winding up (or is it down?) for a lack of people to do the presenting. If I’d known sooner.

Anyway, if you’re ever thinking of starting up again, I might be persuaded to get back behind the mic. I did local radio in the UK as well as playing drums in several bands. I’m from Co Roscommon, currently living across the water. I do a bit of acting and some film extra gigs.

    Cheers

    Al Owens

You mean too much to all your followers to be off forever. I do hope you all return soon. Until then, be safe and be happy.

Launched St Patricks Day 2007 The Craic was the online radio show for the Irish abroad.

Each week presenters Ian Dempsey, Dusty Rhodes and Breda Brown were full of stories you wouldn’t get online including music, tv, sport, entertainment and hidden headlines.

Unfortunately time pressures meant we had to wrap up the show at Christmas 2009.

We'd like to say a massive thank you to all our listeners over the years and wish only good things for you in the coming months.
